Privacy Policy
Last updated: November 7, 2026
In short.
- Quando has no accounts and no server that receives your calendars.
- Calendars and events created in Quando live on your device and, if iCloud is on, in your private iCloud. We can’t read them.
- No ads, no tracking, no third-party tools inside the app. We don’t sell data.
- Some features use Apple services (iCloud, the App Store, Maps, speech recognition). Below you’ll find when each is used and what goes to Apple.
- The getquando.com website uses Google Analytics only if you accept it.
Who we are.
The data controller is Danilo Marinaccio, Italy, VAT no. 03545460168. Write to privacy@getquando.com with any question about this policy.
This policy covers the Quando app (iPhone, iPad and Mac) and the getquando.com website. It refers to Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR) and to Italian Legislative Decree 196/2003 (the Personal Data Protection Code).
Where your data lives.
You don’t create an account to use Quando. The app’s data lives here:
| What | Where it is | Who can read it |
|---|---|---|
| Calendars, events and series created in Quando (title, dates, location, notes, alerts, repeats, colors, icons, costs, projects) | On your device and, if iCloud is on, in the private CloudKit database of your iCloud (container iCloud.com.getquando.app) | You, on devices signed in with your Apple Account. Not us |
| What Quando adds to events from system calendars: icon, emoji, color, “done”, cost, link. Also the name and settings (color, order, hidden) of those calendars | On your device and in the same private iCloud | You. Not us |
| Events from system calendars (iCloud, Google, Exchange…) | They stay in their own accounts: Quando reads them from your device and doesn’t copy their titles, locations or notes to iCloud | You and the services that host them |
| App preferences (theme, views, settings) | On your device | Only the app |
| A file with the events of the coming days, for the widgets | On your device, in a folder shared only between the app and the widget | Only the app and the widget |
| Alerts and the morning summary | Scheduled by the device (local notifications), with no server | Your device |
Apple handles iCloud data under its own terms. We don’t see your content: there is no Quando server that receives it, and we have no access to your private database.
System calendars.
If you allow it, Quando also shows events from the calendars already on your device (iCloud, Google, Exchange…). It reads them through the system (EventKit), on the device, after your permission, and can create, edit, move and delete events in those calendars wherever the system allows it, always through the system: the service that hosts the calendar (for example iCloud or Google) receives the change and applies its own rules. You can withdraw the permission at any time in your device’s settings.
Permissions.
Quando asks only for what it needs, when you use it. You can change any choice in Settings (iPhone, iPad) or System Settings (Mac).
- Calendars. Full access to events, to read and, where the system allows it, write to system calendars.
- Microphone and speech recognition. Only when you tap the button to dictate an event. The audio goes to Apple’s speech recognizer, and Quando doesn’t record or save it. When your device allows it, recognition happens entirely on the device. Otherwise the audio may be sent to Apple for transcription, under Apple’s rules for Dictation and speech recognition. Quando receives only the text.
- Notifications. For event alerts and the daily summary. The device schedules the notifications. With “Hide Titles on Lock Screen” turned on, the lock screen shows only the time.
- Locations. Quando doesn’t ask for location permission. While you type a location, the text you enter is sent to Apple (Maps) to suggest completions. If you tap directions, the address opens in Maps.
- Files. You import or export an .ics file only by choosing it yourself. Quando doesn’t upload it anywhere.
Purchases.
Quando Pro is a subscription bought from the App Store. Apple handles the payment: we don’t see your card, your name or any other payment details. The app checks on the device, through StoreKit, whether you have a valid subscription, and remembers the result in its preferences. Apple gives us only aggregated sales reports, which can’t identify you.
Website and cookies.
Website server. The website is hosted by Aruba S.p.A. (Italy). Like any website, the server records technical access data (IP address, requested page, date and time, browser type) to run and protect the site. Legal basis: legitimate interest in security (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). The logs are kept for 30 days.
Statistics, with your consent. To understand how the site is used, we use Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID G-28NVK7HBJT), provided by Google Ireland Limited. It works like this:
- On your first visit a notice appears with Decline and Accept, given equal weight.
- Until you accept, no Google script is loaded and nothing is written in your browser, apart from your choice (kept in the browser, in the site’s local storage).
- If you accept, Google Analytics measures the pages you visit, how long you stay, your device and browser type, where you came from (the site that sent you) and your approximate area. It may set its own cookies (_ga and _ga_G-28NVK7HBJT). According to Google, Analytics 4 doesn’t log or store IP addresses.
- Your consent covers statistics only. Advertising uses (ads, personalization) always stay denied.
- You can change your mind at any time with the Cookies link at the bottom of every page. If you withdraw, measurement stops from that moment. Cookies already set may stay in your browser until you delete them or they expire.
Legal basis: your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR and Art. 122 of the Italian Privacy Code). We keep Analytics data for 2 months. The site has no other cookies.
If you write to us. If you write to support@getquando.com or privacy@getquando.com, we process your email address and the content of your message to reply. Legal basis: handling a request from you and our legitimate interest in providing support. We keep messages for as long as needed to reply and to deal with any disputes, and no longer than 12 months.
Who we share data with.
We don’t sell your data and we don’t give it to data brokers. For the data we control (the website and messages) we rely on:
- Aruba S.p.A. for the website.
- Google Ireland Limited for statistics, only if you accept.
- Our email provider, for the support@ and privacy@ mailboxes.
For the services you use on your device, Apple (iCloud, the App Store, Maps, speech recognition, notifications) acts under its own privacy policy: apple.com/legal/privacy. If you choose in your device settings to share analytics and crash reports with developers, Apple may give us aggregated, anonymous data about how the app is used. We disclose data to authorities only if the law requires it.
Transfers outside the European Union.
Apple and Google may also process data outside the European Economic Area, notably in the United States. They do so on the basis of the European Commission’s adequacy decision on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or of standard contractual clauses.
How long we keep it.
- App data: for as long as you keep it. You delete it in Settings › Data › Delete Everything… (this removes the Quando calendars, events and series from all your devices) or from iCloud: Settings › your name › iCloud › Manage Account Storage › Quando. Deleting the app removes the copies on the device, not those in iCloud.
- Website and messages: as described above.
Your rights.
For the data we control (the website and messages) you have the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection and portability, and the right to withdraw consent at any time (without affecting processing already carried out). Write to privacy@getquando.com: we reply within one month.
For app data, we can’t access your calendars or identify you: you manage them yourself. You can export them to .ics (Settings › Data), and edit or delete them in the app and in iCloud.
You can lodge a complaint with the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali, the Italian data protection authority (Piazza Venezia 11, 00187 Rome, www.garanteprivacy.it), or with the supervisory authority of the EU country where you live or work.
Children.
Quando isn’t aimed at children and we don’t knowingly collect data about them. For anyone under 14, consent to the site’s statistics must be given by the person with parental responsibility. Purchases go through the Apple Account and Apple’s rules.
Changes.
If we change this policy, we update the date at the top. For important changes we tell you in the app or on the website.
